Craft Development
In the field of product development and craft production, CraftSouthAfrica identifies the skills and materials that crafters use, and assists them in designing contemporary crafts for production that fit into specific retail markets nationally and internationally.
In addition, crafters are provided with the business skills needed to develop and operate a viable craft business and engage effectively with the retail market.
An assessment of each potential craft project is made prior to any intervention, and a report with recommendations is provided to the funder.
A detailed report is provided after each mentorship or training program.
CraftSouthAfrica has successfully mentored and developed numerous crafts businesses to a point where they have become able to supply retail outlets with craft products on an ongoing basis.
By working closely with crafters, a good understanding is gained of the unique needs and challenges that they face in the current social and economic climate.
